Switchcraft or GLS are good choices for plugs; I've used both. A couple of either will make a long cord into two shorter onesI have a few guitar cables I would like shorten . I prefer Velcro for the flexibility.Loop them until they are the right length, then zip-tie the loop (about $2 at Walmart)
$13 for a straight plug?

Yeah. Making them longer again can be a real PITA.Loop them until they are the right length, then zip-tie the loop (about $2 at Walmart)
Done the wrapping/coiling for years . I am a DIY'er . I'd rather spend $ 30 on connectors , than $50 + on new cables and still have a 100 foot of cable I don't use . I have 5 dogs and 3 cats and at some point one or more of them will get tangled up and undo everything .Honestly, it’s easier and cheaper to shorten them with a zip tie or Velcro as suggested, or just buy the length of cable you want.
Unless you’re into the DYI thing, in which case, you’ve received those suggestions too.
There was a scientific report out several years ago that showed that cables, ropes, etc., naturally want to tangle. Like fishing line.Done the wrapping/coiling for years . I am a DIY'er .
