I figured this thing is big enough to have its own thread!

I guess we’re all reaching the same place with restrictions no matter where we live! At least I hope we are.

It’s of interest to me and maybe others to see how our respective governments are dealing with this, but to hear of from your personal point of view rather that from our respective media.

How is it affecting you personally.

Do you have people of greater risk in your home?

Had to cancel any trips, or holidays?

It’s a big deal so let’s hear your thoughts.

I don’t think any government could have been prepared for this so please leave political comment out, thanks.

All the caravan parks here have been closed and that means that our holiday spot is now locked down! I don’t know when we will see it again?

That raises the issue of thousands of travellers being locked in where they are. Wonder what will happen there?

Also with Easter approaching I wonder if city people will still head to holiday areas like ours? We don’t want them!

Do you take this seriously?
Yes.
How is it affecting you personally.
SWMBO works from home now, since I'm "essential" I'm still required to go in.
Do you have people of greater risk in your home?
Thankfully, no. Those family members are secured as best as they can be in a more intelligent state.
Had to cancel any trips, or holidays?
Several concerts and events we would have gone to have been cancelled.

Prepared, no, I agree with you on that, however this patchwork lack of leadership is the real problem. We need a Stay at Home order to flatten the curve.

Oh, and just for the record: The spring breakers are getting theirs.

Norway is more or less shut down. All schools and kindergardens are closed. Most restaurants and pubs are closed, all events and concerts have been cancelled or postponed, and only people with critical functions are allowed to go to work as long as they are not in quarantine. Grocery stores are still open, but people have been told to keep distance and be very aware of hygiene, and preferably only one person per household do grocery shopping. I think this is the right way to stop the virus escalating into unimaginary proportions. There will be a significant number of casualties even with the restrictions as is.

The missus and I are in the high-risk group, both over 65 with existing issues, respiratory (her) just had cancer surgery and type2 diabetes(me) so we are hunkered down. I do drugstore shopping at the drive through and have groceries delivered. We Skype with the kids and watch a lot of DVDs. Aristotle gave me an A+ in averages and statistics back in the day and using China and S. Korea as models for infection rates, I think the USA will peak in about two weeks and then the rate should slow here, so I'm thinking late May or June before we should start thinking about relaxing the rules here. Meanwhile, I've cleaned and polished all my gear, built four bookcases, mounted a big flat screen TV in the living room and poured floated and cured a 9'X9' concrete slab for an exercise spa. Since it no longer matters how long these projects take me, I suspect my missus is making an expanded honeydew list. We will survive this and eventually I will get to share the new spa with my kids and siblings. Hang in there and with a little self restraint and luck we'll have a great summer. (fingers crossed)

Yes - absolutely :thumb:

this is from Saturday 21.March
1584746857899-png.448043

9 of these 68 died 30 minutes from where I live
5 of them within the last 24 hours (last Saturday)

all of them died where Mrs Paruwi is working

Now the positive :
Mrs Paruwi did not work there for the last two weeks - and has the next 2 weeks off, cause of more than 200 hours overtime
though she might get a call every moment - when they run out of healthy nursing staff

meanwhile the numbers have changed dramatically....

We’re Safe at Home, although they have clearly defined what that means, so here’s hoping. Both the bride and I are more or less target demo, she with asthma and me with mild issues lingering after years of smoking. We are looking at serious financial issues coming because all the events at which we sell our art and stuff are cancelled until well into June, and those may still be in question. Since we can’t get political, I really can’t offer my opinion on the US response, but it’s been fractured at best. For now, we make ninja trips to the store, try to keep busy in the studio - but there’s a finite amount of paint, metal, yarn and such so we have to be sparing - and totally getting our money’s worth on Netflix, Prime, and CBS All Access. Picard rules!

Saw a picture earlier today with about 40-50 college kids at a cramped swimming hole just south of downtown yesterday. With this being a college "town", I guess it's to be expected since most (but not all) college kids are just that, kids who haven't yet learned how to be adults. Time will tell if they need to start citing people around here but my guess is that it will come to that.

Speaking about vulnerability, I wont be looking too flash if the virus enters our household!

Apart from a raft of other problems, I am a chronic asthmatic and have type 2 diabetes.

I do take this “very” seriously!

I had to go somewhere in town the other day and wore a mask. As I crossed the street I had people looking at me as if I was mad. Well perhaps I am, but I’m not as silly as they are~

I doubt that the origins of this thing will ever be truely known and therefore innuendo seems pointless to me.

Not much.....
Peter I read your comments from earlier how both you and your lady are in affected areas.

Please stay safe my friend.

Australia has recorder out 11th death from the virus so we are relatively untouched compared to some countries but who knows where this is going to end up anywhere in the world?
