Hard cases are more expensive. But if you transport your hollow body frequently, please protect it properly.

You can Google "gig bag for Epiphone casino." Make sure it can accommodate the 16" lower bout and the 43" length. I doubt anyone here has first hand experience with these bags though.

If a hard case is too heavy for you and carrying it using its handle is uncomfortable, you could turn it into a backpack by adding some sort of harness with shoulder straps to it !
Below is an example that I've used on a train trip, just not with a Casino (I had a classical guitar) :

You could have a look at its dimensions in order to make sure your Casino case could fit in such a harness!

And allow me to add another voice of reason: As I have said here before and will keep saying as long as it takes - if it's worth playing, it deserves a real case. If you really want a gigbag, just carry it in a gunnysack; same (lack of) protection, plus Chuck cred.

Gigbags are the worst invention since pantyhose.

Lol! That's a hilarious comparison!

Let me disagree with you a little here!
I live in a big city where 2/3 of people can't afford cars, live in minute apartments and don't go on trips with their guitars (they only take them to their guitar lessons or to friends' once a week by bus. And most people don't gig). In that kind of situation, one quickly realises that bulky and heavy guitar cases that take the space of half a room and aren't foldable are a hindrance (bus drivers sometimes even forbid you to get on the bus with a big guitar case during rush hour, while they say nothing if you carry your guitar in a smaller gigbag).

So basically, here, guitar hardcases are a "necessary evil" that comes in handy once every five years in one's life. It should be like cars - rentable. 😉 And it should be easier to carry on public transport and to walk and climb / go down stairs from one station to the next (wheels, shoulder straps, less heavy...).

But I realize most people here don't share the same lifestyle and don't mind storing guitar cases when they are not using them on a trip.

Well, I have lived in a big city (Chicago), and almost every gig I have ever worked has been as a a soundman or stagehand; yes, these days I put my well-cased guitars in my car - but i have also transported them on buses, on trains, and by foot.
A few years ago I got a jazzbox; it has not left the house since, because I have yet to find a case to fit it - and my instruments do not leave the house in a bag!
Basically, gigbags are an unnecessary evil that put your instrument at unnecessary risk. If you don't think your guitar deserves a real case, you need a better guitar (or to send it to me; I'll love it and care for it.....)

I totally understand your concerns, hence the reason why I suggested above getting shoulder straps for an actual hardcase and not just a gigbag. 😉

Thanks I was going ti get a hard case

But to lug them around something else. I'll stay with the Reunion Blue for now. What do you think about the epi lite case?
I haven’t seen one, so I couldn’t say one way or the other. I know from experience that the TKL cases I’ve had for Les Pauls were lighter built than the Epiphone cases. And, the Ibanez cases for LP are lighter still. But I don’t know if Ibanez has one that will fit your guitar.

The epilite case is about 3.5 lbs lighter than the hard shell 519 and has a carry strap on the back as well as a handle.

There is very little padding on the epilite in general and under the body, where the 519 has a steeply angled pad from end toward the neck, the epilite has mostly nothing.

The neck, which is lovingly cradled and near smothered by the lid of the 519, is laid on a cutout and fastened into place with velcro on the epilite. The top meets the guitar when it closes, as you can see.

Part of the weight savings must come from the missing support mid-case; also missing in the epilite is the storage cavity in the same location, but it has a large zipped pocket on the outside.

The covering seems durable- feels kind of like tightly woven cordura- but the case feels sketchy overall (in comparison- I haven’t actually used it.)
