Like I wrote before, there has to be different P90 at Epiphone, readings can't vary that much for the same product.

To me it looks like there's the original Epi P90 used for years, with below 8k readings, then there are the hot Casino's that read ±11 & 12K values.

The set that comes in my 2018 bolt neck Special, the one with the TOM bridge and plateless bolt-on neck, reads at 8 & 9.5K !

But then ... I had a 2020 LP Special set neck that read at 7.75-7.85K. Those should be the Pro version, but they read the same as old ones.

I looked into switching P90s from one guitar to the other and discovered that the Epi P90 Pro I thought I had in my 2018 Special are actually Tyson Tone 57 Wraptails, so my readings were off.

The original P90 in that 2018, which I suspect are Pro, read 9.5K / 8K.
On the 2012 Special, they read 9.2K / 7.4K

So, after all, there might just be one set of P90 Epiphone uses for most of their guitars, except dog ears in semi-hollows that seem much hotter.

Whaaat ? What is that ? Weird ...

But bravo for that SG. With the bridge P90 that far from the bridge, it must sound menstruous.
It's strange. When I took the readings I kept thinking that can't be right, thats quite low. Plugged it in and all my cares went away. Somehow it has all the bark and growl I'd expect. I had the amp set for the LP Special so I wasn't compensating for anything, it holds its own. The SG has the same toyish feel to it.

These cousins will stay in the "grab me" range.

If you have a chance to get a reading right from the pickups leads. There might be something in the electronics that shows lower values ... maybe ?

I was thinking the same. It's raining today and tomorrow so maybe I will set it up and have a look in the cavity.

So, are we to conclude that Epiphone P90s are all but a toss of a coin on what you'll get ?

It seems to be the case. I'm also curious if any parts outside of the pickups may be changing resistance. I will be setting up that SG tonight, I'll try to test directly and if the readings are better do the same from my LP Special.

In my mind though, any parts between pickup and jack would only increase resistance and raise the ohm reading, I can't see the parts or even bad wiring leading to a lower value.

I'm taking the resistance readings with a grain of salt too, I don't think it is a big deal. More a sign of consistent assembly if anything.

If you find a different reading, I'll open up my cavities too.

My 2020 Spl reads..

Neck 7.8
Bridge 7.7
Both 3.9

Checked at the jack w/1 foot jumper. Same reading with a different brand 1 foot jumper.

(Used a cheap Cen-Tech meter Harbour Freight used to give away free.)

I can't believe the differences. The only answer I can think of for that, is that all our meters are defective
