Only one for me...
A Gibson ES-335TD LH, with matching case.
My 1st guitar ever, bought 2nd hand in 1980, for 5500 Francs (839 Euros).
A huge sum for a student working part-time at factory !
An absolute rarity in France in that era.
Still with me today, 42 years later.

I dig the Boogie. Nice selection of guitars. And lefty to boot.

Cool thread, and as long as Gibson do own Epiphone, I think it's fair that Gibsons get their own thread, although some users seem to hate Gibson, but love Epiphone. Personally, I don't get it.

I don't hate Gibsons at all, but I can't justify the price tags. Epi's keep getting better and better and they are fine for my needs.

I love your R8 and 335 btw.

Sadly, I can't either at the moment, but I was lucky to be able to when the USD was low compared to our currency some 10 years ago. I actually paid the equivalence of about 1800 dollars new for the 335 in 2013. Significantly less for the Custom shops second hand, some years prior to that. If I remember correctly, I think I paid about 1500 for the R8 and about 1200 for the Special. The Explorer I think I gave about 700 for.

The only thing I don’t like about Gibson is the prices. I bought a Gibson Tribute LP because it has a maple neck and hardly any finish.

The lacquer chips away super easy. That is why I bought it, so that I can have an awesome guitar for blues jam that I don’t have to baby.

The Tribute was 1300 dollars brand new. That is the same as the new Korina Explorer I wanna get.

I am going to put Dimarzio’s in it. The 490’s that came in it sound like poop, but sound awesome on my SG Standard.

Totally... and with the increase in prices again this year, a Standard is now north of $2.5k. If not for the availability of financing options, it's pretty much unobtainable for a lot of aspiring musicians.
I got my LP and SG both on 18 payment plans from AMS/Zzounds. Actually the wife is paying on the SG as she bought it for my birthday last year. It’s almost paid off. Only 3 more payments.

The LP still has 9 payments to go. It’s really nice that you can buy like this at zero interest. The payments come out automatically from my bank every month. I am just on auto pilot. It is something that is in the budget like the rest of our bills.

Everything else that I have through them will be paid off by August. I buy and pay for a year, get it paid off, and then buy more. There are three more Epi’s that I want and one Gibson.

I have about 400 bucks of fun money every month.

My Gs.

‘70s Deluxe LP and SG Standard ‘61.

I A/B against something familiar (and take the pic for a folde) when I get one home- joy/expectations cloud the experience in the moment but listening later is something else.

I promise that I took the plastic off of the € p90s.
