Morning was cold and damp, with clouds coming in by mid morning. It was 27°/-3° when we got up at 5:30 for market prep, and said nope. High today was 46°/7°, but not until late this afternoon. I think we made the right call, as we’re specialty vendors, not the produce and other food vendors that the regulars come to see.

Back to sub zero temps & ice & frost this morning, It's a bright day so should melt it over the course of the morning. It was a shock to the system this morning with no heating or hot water 🥶 There is a heating engineer from the company in the boiler grant scheme coming out on Monday to survey the situation & said it might be another 2-3 weeks before they can start work on installing a new boiler.

Sliding back into the mid 40Fs and so it seems where we'll remain for the next week or so. Hopefully all of our more brutal cold is behind us but not our snow. Feb. and March are two of our snowiest months.

Strong Norwesters, our first real wind in over a month, unusual for "WIndy Wellington".
Still very warm and sticky though.
If I don't get any work today (I'm casual and today is a public holiday so everyone will be chasing a shift with time and a half and a day in lieu) I'll head up the coast and see if I can get a surf.

Tough to know how to respond. I guess happy for the Floridians and sad for you. Have you ever thought of buying a refrigerated truck and parking it on your driveway? :dunno::rofl:
Oh, no... no... The weather is fine, it's just that this is the kind of thing that someone will experience and think it's "normal" causing them to want to come live here.

What a difference a day makes. Beautiful sunny skies and 65°/19°. Makes a young man’s thoughts turn to spring. Us old farts, too!

No one believes 73°/22° is the norm for Florida. I’ve seen temps here in Memphis in the dead of every summer over the past two decades that were 10° or more hotter than anything I ever experienced on the Space Coast, my Xanadu. And there was almost always a nice breeze, but I made it a point to live as close to the beach as I could, sometimes directly on, but never more than a block away. I saw no reason to live there if one wasn’t ocean adjacent. Live in Orlando? Not only no, but hell, no.

Oh, I think there are a whole lot of reasons why some wouldn't want to live there and the weather has little to do with it.

Hard frost covering everything again this morning but it's looking like a clear sunny day later, Not much heat in the low sun but yesterday afternoon was really nice, Top temps later today of 6C.

Looks like we've settled into a patter of 40F to 50F degree weather for the week. Pretty ordinary stuff for February.

When they come down this time of year and compare it with old man winter up north... they figure "how bad could 15-20° be?"
This is the "dry" season - low humidity, reasonable temperatures.

I saw no reason to live there if one wasn’t ocean adjacent. Live in Orlando? Not only no, but hell, no.
I went from Jax to the Bay. Pre-'rona we'd hit Disney in December for my birthday - that and the occasional concert were the only reasons to go there other than passing thru.

Oh, I think there are a whole lot of reasons why some wouldn't want to live there and the weather has little to do with it.
Yeah, but the weather is the one that doesn't run afoul of forum guidelines.
