Since most people on here that own or have played one can attest to the 1959 Les Paul Standard's are by far the best guitar that epiphone are or have put on the market.

So come on everybody, if you proud of your 1959 show her off here

I'll start

Can you describe that process please? Looks really nice that way.
I basically just used compound to polish - similar to what you'd do when polishing a canopy/windshield for a plastic model.

To start, I used automotive compound (scratch removal type since that's essentially for polishing a clear coat ).

I think the US equivalent to this would be something like a headlight renewal kit (I think Maguires and 3M make those). Note that I only used a polishing compound. Some kits come with a ceramic coating - I didn't use that.

Followed by plastic model finishing abrasives. You could just use any polishing abrasive as long as it's safe for plastics and high enough grit. These go from 2000 to 5000 to 10,000. I just use a microfiber polishing cloth for these.

I initially went all the way up to finish, but then went back a couple passes to coarse/fine so it'd keep that shiny, but not new, type of look.

Got the 60s first and it's great...I looked on zzounds a few days ago and they had the aged southern burst up and I had to do it. The 60s is going back. It doesn't even compare to the 59. Does anyone know how many 59s they are going to make? Or when they will stop production?

They've been "Limited Edition " for almost 3 years now . I hope they keep selling for 10 more years and hope they add some new colors to the mix . Would love an ebony , gold top ,green burst ( whatever they call it ) .

50's Standard is almost like a '59 with Probuckers and no case and a few different colors .

The 59 also has a long neck tenon. The regular standard does not.

I got my Cherry burst 59 last week. It plays and sounds fantastic, But I really hate the finish. If it hangs around I will have to polish it to a mostly gloss finish.
