GOOOD job ! My kind of repair, good enough for poor people my dad would say.

If mine I would have used a folded rag on the burst instead of tape, so the paint line was blurry. But still great as is.

Thanks! I sent it to a friend and he disapproved - he said that I should've tried instant ramen instead of putty... :D (I need to try that someday).

I don't really like KISS but there's just something about that guitar that draws me in. It has just the right amount of weirdness for me to really dig it. Looking nice and sparkly out in the sun too. 👍
I'll be honest ..... I had to look up who Tommy Thayer was . But I love this blue . In lower light it looks "purply " at times .

My Dad is Friends with someone in Tommy’s family. His grandmother or Godmother or something. They got me a ton of Kiss swag That Tommy put in a charity auction at their country club. He was in a band called Black-n-Blue back in the day.

Polished and rewired! Up close if you really wanted to find the repair it's there. But it's a $70 guitar (with about $350 of parts put in: (1) 2nd hand pickups that I had to re-pot, also distressed them a bit just to see if I could do that "antiquity" look myself and (2) Hipshot tuners). I couldn't really get it in the photos, but there are swirl marks in the finish (some artificially added) to get that VOS vibe.

Bought a lot of gear in the last few years but this is definitely up there in my favorite list.

I loved Black n Blue back in the day! Saw Kiss on their 1985/86 Asylum tour and Black n Blue was the opening act.

most of the time deoxit or a few squirts of contact cleaner does the trick, but this one was a bit old and there was a bit of crud around the contact point

Switch 1.jpg

Took apart this "crap" Epi switch (as some people on the other forum seems to believe) and polished it with metal polish. Works just as good as any new switch now. Certainly didn't sell the guitar just because of a switch problem

Sometimes it's worth doing, especially if you have the time, but not the money. I still prefer Switchcraft, but Epi switches are perfectly serviceable.

Come at me with a PCB switch or a box type though and that crap is getting yanked.
