Hi chaps,
I bought two new suede straps for my two new epi lps and purchased a set of dunlop flushmount straplocks which I bought accidentally instead of traditionals but I wasn't very impressed with the dunlops.
What straplocks would you suggest btw I would prefer to use the same strap screw to save drilling if possible.
I was considering these ernie balls in gold but I'm not sure if I would have to drill the body:

I don't use "Strap locks".

I prefer DiMarzio ClipLocks.
Idiot proof, there's NO question the strap is engaged.

Don't try this at home.

The Nylon ones I use are rated for 150lbs (that's like three Les Paul's). If they're good enough for Steve Vai and John Pettruchi, they're good enough for me, and no I don't do guitar spins. :D

I've been using the non branded version of these for close on 30 years (i.e the washers off Grolsh bottles - my sister used to own a pub). Exactly the same as the branded ones or the Joe Bonamassa branded ones but a lot cheaper. these are the only strap locks I use. go to a home brewing store or evilbay and you can get them a lot cheaper and in various colours too.

heres a set of 12 for £2.60, the same price as the above branded 2.

A U,S seller on Evilbay does sets of any where from 1 to 1000 that are quite reasonable (£20 shipped to the UK for 100)

Schaller strap locks.

You just remove the stock button, and install there button. I have these on all my guitars, except my Epiphone, as it came with the DiMarzio strap.

This is the most solid strap, but then again, it is what it is and you can't just put another brand of strap on, as it replaces the stock button.

Schallers for me, I have three straps with the schaller clip on it, the guitar mounted part (studs?) can be bought separately so you can have more guitars than straps.
These have never failed me yet.
And the best part: if you have forgotten your strap, just borrow a strap without locking parts as it will fit on the studs on your guitar.

Thanks for all the great recommendations guys!
The Schallers seem to be highly rated and the most popular but I'm going to send the dunlops back and exchange them for the traditional dunlop and if they are ok I'll get another set.
