What strings do you put on your Les Pauls?

I have 4 Epi Les Pauls. Two 1959’s, and two Gold Top Classics.

I have one Gibson Tribute LP, and one Aria Pro II Les Paul style as well.

I have three that are going to be serving a different purpose than the other three.

The Gibson Tribute is set up with EB Cobalt 10 to 46, and is going to get new pickups. The 490R and 490T sound glorious on my SG. On my LP, not so much.

I am going to Cobalt 11-48/49 Power Slinkies on it. The Gibson is going to be my go to guitar for playing out.

I am going to set my Aria Pro II LP with EB Cobalt 11’s, and is going to be tuned down a half step all the way across. Great for playing Jimi and Kiss tunes, where they tuned down.

The two 1959 Epiphone Les Pauls are getting EB Cobalt 10-46. These two will be set up to A440 standard tuning. One to play out and the other is a back up.

The two Classic Gold Top LP’s are set up with EB Paradigm 10-46.

These I am going to use for jammin’ with my Kid. In fact one of these guitars I am giving to my son. I only see him about twice a year as he is in the Army over seas.

These strings will have to last a long time, and they are warranted for 90 days against breaking. But, they don’t wind up sounding dead from just sitting in a case for 6 months. They are going to get played out, just not frequently.

I was able to get 3 sets of Gibson LP Premium LP Strings in 10-46 for about what D'Addario's strings would price at. The Gibsons are pure nickel, silk ball ends. The guitar came with 10's on it. Gibson/Epiphone support indicated the original strings were D'Addario 10-46, however the ball ends weren't color coded. I intend to try Musician's Gear 10-46's on it eventually.

P90 Special and gold Trad IV have Dunlop Mexican Lottery, which don't seem the be popular but are my favorite.

I've used regular Slinky 10-46 on everything for years.

I do a lot of bending, and it doesn't bother me on my LP or Strat

10-48 , 10-52 ( Preferred) , 11-50 ..... Brand ???? cheapest . Thin ..... Thick ...... it's all a matter of who you are trying to emulate . Pick what is comfortable for you . I hope the day never comes that .001 " stops me from playing or picking up a guitar .

I think that the Gibson strings are made by D’Addario. And they don’t put the colored ball ends on them. D’Addario makes other brands like EVH.

I haven’t tried the NYXL. What do you like about them? I might try a set.

DR Blues are nice if you're - wait for it - playing blues! I don't want to call them "warm" since it sounds like they lack treble. But they are full and round in sound quality. I don't have any longevity reports yet.

Nothing extraordinary, but they held tune well and the windings were smooth. I tend to be sloppy when moving up or down the fretboard so my fingers ride the strings, the smooth windings had less of that zipper noise. They're a bit expensive so I only bought in multi packs.

Next month I am going to place a large order with Strings by Mail. I usually buy 50 or so sets at a time. They give a veteran’s discount of 10% and they only charge a few bucks for shipping

on my LP's i have Daddario 10-46 ( i bought one of those 25 set boxes)
on my SG's and Epi ES339 i have GHS boomers 9.5-42
on my ES 335 i have Gibson reissue 10-46 (got 3 packs for free when i bought it, so i'll use them)

I don't really have a preferance for a brand. But i didn't have much luck with Ernie Ball slinky's.. I bought 5 sets last year and on 2 of the sets the high E strings broke at the ball end.. The winding was still on the end of the string and they seemed to have snapped somewhere where it goes around the ball end. And they for some reason felt a lot stiffer than the other strings i tried which made them a little less comfortable to play.

DR Blues.

Gibsons, Epiphones, Fenders, Gretsches- I think I have 10-46 on everything but my Takamine, National, and baritones. (I briefly flirted with a d’addario balanced tension set on a 5232.)

The guitars don’t all feel the same strung that way but I’ve reduced the variables and love the sound.

When it comes to my Epiphone or Gibson guitar's 24.75" neck , I use 50-11's.
I used to use 48, 38, 28 gauges, but they felt like rubber bands, so I went to 50, 40, 28, now it feels like my 46-10's on my 25.5 necks .
To be honest, it doesn't matter what brand as long their steel / nickle and stay in tune.

I have been using Gibson’s lately and like them. You can find them reasonably priced is you shop.

They used to be in all the guitar stores and I used them on my Gibby LP for years but I don't see them much any more. Looking on-line after seeing your post, I see that they "re-launched" three string lines. Not sure what "re-launched" means i.e. new packaging or redesigned strings.

Anything specific you like about them?
