Hey how about the big meeting today. We're not quite there yet, but it sounds like it went well. It's sure nice to watch the news and here something positive. It'll sure be nice to give those poor people some hope. Keep your fingers crossed.

I don't know which peace summit you were watching, but I was focusing on the Trump/Putin one intended to work towards a ceasefire. They didn't agree one and cut the meeting short (presumably they didn't have anything to talk about.) Putin did get a forum to voice two messages: That its Ukraine's fault that he invaded and wont go home, and that Europe, in who backyard this is happening, should stay out of it. I'd also bet real money that he got to whisper in Trump's ear about whatever Epstein dirt he has to keep him is his place. Having achieved nothing except legitimize Putin's message, Trump said it was "extremely productive", so he's a hero. Interesting photo about their hand shake. Putin upright, Trump bowing.
But anyway, I hope the meeting you were watching went well.

I didn't think were were supposed to be doing politics, but I don't suppose that this meeting was about politics.

One post in this thread reminds me that the real "Dreamers" aren't those who are waiting for US citizenship but rather those who believe in a reality only they can see. It's both sad and pathetic to see success in what was a complete failure for anyone not named Vladimir Putin.

Even the Faux propaganda network could not find anything positive to say about that meeting. Instead they claim our POTUS got "steamrolled" which is what those of us who do live with reality expected. Someone continues to be a complete embarrassment to us or at least most of us.

The post was about hoping something good was going to come out of the meeting. As far as your hang up about guns, I can't help you. I don't understand all the fuss.

Look I'm not taking sides. Unfortunately the the only people that can bring an end to this madness are who they are. I'm just hoping it's coming to an end regardless of who gets it done. My post wasn't intended to be political or to assign credit to anyone. I was just encouraged to see it at least being addressed. Unfortunately, as of this posting , it looks like the horror continues.

Mike, the post about guns and guitars had a very deliberate purpose and you know it. It wasn't subtle at all. It was flag waving 2nd amendment crap which is why I locked the thread.

If the majority of the members here want a single specific thread in the Backstage Forum to discuss firearms then we can have that but I suspect the majority do not care to discuss guns vs guitars.

As you have learned, within limitations I tend to be far more liberal about what's permitted here than any other gear forum that I know of. There are concerns about certain issues we all share in and wish to state an opinion about.

But I have and will continue to draw the line as far as any thread whose sole purpose is political and or partisan. We need to remain as ecumenical and non-partisan as possible to avoid full blown debates based on party centric politics.

I'm sure that many of us have concerns about the war in Ukraine and would love to see it end. But here is not the proper place to discuss it with a thread solely dedicated to that. If world powers cannot resolve it we surely can't.

There are dozens of podcasts discussing what happened in Alaska and issues related to it. I've posted only one that deals with the facts as we know them that nothing positive was accomplished in so far as Ukraine is concerned.

If anyone else has a final comment to make I suggest they do it now before I lock this thread as well. It serves no purpose to continue it when it only distracts from our primary content and may cause a political debate.

I don’t care if there is or isn’t a gun thread.
I tend to stay out of such discussions online.
Same with political ones, including peace treaties.
I am okay with jokes about politics, as long as it’s not a dsiguise for mudslinging, make fun of all sides.
And this thread is way more political than a meme ai shared on another forum that got removed, I meant no political statement by it, it was an amusing meme picking on bass players in a friendly way, but because the visual included someone in politics, it was banned.
You have to draw the line somewhere and mods and administrators of websites get to draw it for the sites they are responsible for. I’m okay with whatever is decided.

The gun posts (there were two) were not seen as only joking. Not when you're posting about buying a gun and and a guitar bragging ain't America great because you can do so. Whether you accept it or not we do have a problem with gun violence in America.

Think about this. We have a very international members group here and nowhere else in the world is gun ownership looked at in the same way as it is in America. So it becomes a far more sensitive issue for many. They do not want to talk about guns in a guitar forum.

And let me ask you this. Those who tout the 2nd Amendment to own the types of guns not used solely for home defense or hunting often cite their purpose as having guns to use against a tyrannical US government. We all know this to be the rationale for owning assault weapons.

We have never seen a more lawless authoritarian US government in our lifetimes than we are seeing now. So of what use are those guns? I don't see any brave so called "Patriots" standing up to the current tyranny with AR15 in hand. Instead they seem to be supporting it or joining ICE.

This is why we don't talk about politics or guns here.

You're either being intentionally naive if you don't believe that global politics is involved in the war in Ukraine or you just don't get it. It's very much about politics.

We would all love to see an end to that bloody war but only on terms favorable to Ukraine. They were not the invader they are who has been invaded by an army led by a murderous dictator our POTUS just embraced again.

Even if we were to accept that you only wanted to wish Ukraine well and show your support your post defied the reality that not only was their no cease fire or fair offer for peace it was just the opposite. It was an embarrassment.

This is a very touchy time all over the globe with citizens of countries divided against one another. This is intentional in that it plays right into the hands of those who are the enemies of free world democracies. They've created it.

I don't know of any good way to allow partisanship and political issues to commingle with music and not have it detract from the music which is our purpose in being here. So we need to do away with that which detracts.

I'm not one who loves to run around with a ban hammer just itching to use it. And I realize that there are times we post without realizing we're doing more than just getting something off our chests. We're human beings not robots.

So what I will do is delete threads and/or posts that may take us in a direction we don't want to go. If such posts seem to be intentional then I may need to moderate differently but I really prefer not to do that now or ever.

If there are no more comments anyone wishes to make I will lock this thread and let it sink into the past.

It sounds like you don't even have any hope. Now that you've made it about politics and got your point of view across you can lock it. Again I was just enthused about the possibility.

My last post in this thread:
From my point of view, USA and Europe missed a good partnership with russia. There was a time Russia wanted to join the NATO.
Later, Putin said that any "border movement" closer to Russia will be rated as attack against Russia...

Now, we have this war as a result of ignoring Putin and a missed friendly partnership with him.
What Putin wants is clear and he will not stop until he gets this. Cause the last thing he will do is to loose his face in Russia.

So, the only chance to stop this war is, when Ukraine gives land to Russia.

And I have to say thank you to Trump, for his effort to stop the war!
